Amazing procession at Hai Ba Trung temple festival in Hanoi

The festival is aimed at honoring Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) who fought against Chinese invaders.

This year, the Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival is underway from the 6th to the 10th in the first month of the Lunar New Year (this year it falls after Tet holiday).

Hai Ba Trung Temple commemorates Trung Trac and Trung Nhi, two Vietnamese sisters who symbolize the heroic spirit, indomitable will, and loyalty to the motherland.

The Hai Ba Trung's uprising has gone down in Vietnamese history as a demonstration of the nation’s strength and patriotism, as well as the crucial role of Vietnamese women in national defense.

Hai Ba Trung Temple, a special national historical relic in Hanoi, is not only a sacred spiritual place, but also where many valuable relics (wood, stone, bronze, porcelain, paper, and others) are preserved.

Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival, often called Ha Loi Festival by local people, includes several rituals such as incense offerings, a procession, and folk performances.

The main festival is held on the sixth day. It is said that on this day Hai Ba Trung (the Trung sisters) gave a banquet to the soldiers.

Legend has it that on the sixth day of the second lunar month in 40 AD, Hai Ba Trung led an uprising against Chinese Han invaders to regain national independence after more than 200 years under their rule.

The uprising demonstrates the nation’s strength and patriotism.

The Trung sisters are considered Vietnamese heroes for their great contributions to the country.

Every five years, local residents organize the procession of Hai Ba Trung, which shows the gratitude tradition and national pride.

The festival attracts a large number of tourists from all over the country to pay their respects to the queens.

A night performance was held on the first day of the festival.

 The uprising was recreated.
