An exhibition of 100 latest photographs featuring the Spratly (Truong Sa) islands along with the debut of the book “The Wavefront” (Noi dau song) was launched at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem district in Hanoi on August 30, Zing Newspaper reported. 
"The Wavefront" was debuted at the exhibition.

The exhibition showcases the most recent photographs faithfully depicting all activities on the Spratly islands, the Navy and especially the landscapes of 15 DK1 (techical) rigs located in the southern continental shelf of the country.
These photos were taken by engineer Tran Vu Thanh and photographers and photojournalists. Besides, the exhibition also displayed some artifacts regarding the Spratly islands and DK1 rig including ship models, products made from seashells and sea poison tree (an endemic plant of the Spratly islands), among others.
Tran Thanh is an engineer who has a passionate love for the country’s sea and islands. He used to be head of some significant projects in the Spratly islands such as purifying machine to make seawater drinkable, C-Sea garbage compactor and waste treatment by microbiological technology.
His eight trips to Spratly islands so far have helped him accumulate many experiences and encourage him to study more solutions to improve the spiritual and material life for the navy troops and people in the remote islands and DK1 rigs.
Additionally, the exhibition also debuted the book named “The Wavefront” (Noi dau song) featuring 21 vignettes written by poet Lu Mai. The book tells about what the poetess saw and how she felt during her business trip to the Spratly islands last May.
Each of the vignettes depicts the life of people and the soldiers in the islands, the DK1 rigs, and the ships so as to bring those front-line places nearer to the public.
Lu Mai, who also works as a journalist at the Nhan Dan newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is the author of six books in various genres namely poetry, short stories, vignettes, among others.
