Vietnam Fine Arts Association Awards 2017 kicks off in Hanoi
The Vietnam Fine Arts Association Awards 2017 were presented to four outstanding works of fine art at a ceremony held in Hanoi.

Two third prizes were presented to Tran Giang Nam from Bac Kạn for the work ‘Trang Kim Hy’ (Kim Hy Moon) and Dang Xuan Hiep from Hanoi for the work ‘Nang chieu’ (sunshine).
In 2017, the fine art exhibitions were held in eight areas across the country, with 1,322 works being submitted by 1,228 artists. Arts councils at the fine art exhibitions honoured 92 outstanding works from the eight areas, including four A prizes, seventeen B prizes, twenty C prizes, and fifty-one consolation prizes, including five prizes for Art Criticism.
On the occasion of the event, the 2017 “For the Cause of the Fine Arts in Vietnam” medals were presented to organisations and individuals for their contributions made to fine arts in Vietnam.
Last year, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Awards were presented to four outstanding works of fine art. In which, the second prize went to an oil painting named “Tuoi tho” (“Childhood”) by Nguyen Van Bay from Hanoi. Three third prizes were presented to “Ho—Mot phan cuoc song cua toi” (“Them—A Part of My Life”) by Vu Bach Lien from Hanoi; “Huyen thoai cho phien” (“The Legend of the Traditional Market”) by Hoang Van Diem from Lang Son and “Hoi An xua” (“Ancient Hoi An”) by Nguyen Tuong Vinh from Da Nang.
They were selected from 26 works that were presented A, B and C prizes at the 21st fine arts exhibitions in the eight regions of the country. In addition, seven organisations and fifty-seven individuals were also presented the 2016 “For the Cause of the Fine Arts in Vietnam” medals and one member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association was awarded the “For the Cause of Vietnamese Literature and Arts” medal for their contributions to the fine arts Vietnam.
