Hosts Australia have been pitted in the tough Group 2B, going up against Singapore, the United States and Austria in their draw. Defending champions China have already started planning their title defence, finding themselves in position one of Group 1A against Thailand and Hong Kong.
The Sudirman Cup is a mixed team badminton world championship, which takes place every two years. There are five matches in every round: Men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
This year the event will be held from May 21 to May 28. China swept Japan to take Sudirman Cup in 2015.
