Hanoi's mayor expects the newspaper to play an even more influential role in conveying official policies, serving as a bridge between the citizens and the government, and fostering unity and consensus in society.
The Economic & Urban Newspaper has effectively fulfilled its role as the mouthpiece of the Hanoi People's Committee, serving as a crucial information conduit supporting the city's leaders' leadership, guidance, and management responsibilities.

“In particular, the English online newspaper The Hanoi Times, a prominent foreign information channel for the city, has employed diverse and rich promotional methods. It significantly contributes to showcasing and promoting the dynamic development of Hanoi, a city with a thousand years of culture, a heroic capital, and a city for peace. The platform plays a vital role in introducing and promoting the image of Hanoi to both domestic and international friends," Thanh said.
The chairman gave the remarks during a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the newspaper’s first publication (January 1, 1999 – January 1, 2024) and its reception of the first-class Labor Order from the State President held today [December 29].
According to Thanh, Hanoi faces significant development opportunities but is confronted with numerous difficulties and challenges.
This necessitates the active involvement of the entire political system and the support of the people. “Now more than ever, Hanoi's press agencies, including the Economic & Urban Newspaper, must play an even more effective role in conveying official policies, serving as a bridge between the citizens and the government, and fostering unity and consensus in society,” said Thanh.
The city’s mayor called for an enhanced focus on digital transformation, improved technological infrastructure, and the efficient utilization of the digital ecosystem of the newspaper in disseminating the Party's directions, state laws, and the city's directives to the residents of the capital.

Additionally, the newspaper is urged to excel as a "companion" to the business community, providing a forum for city leadership to listen, share, and support new ideas for the collective development of the capital.
The city's leader emphasizes the importance of innovating management practices towards modern, dynamic, and digital-oriented approaches. This includes the continued development of digital media products, the establishment of digital newsrooms, smart editorial design, and the creative digitization of content tailored to various reader groups.
Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi noted that over 25 years of development, the newspaper has progressively aligned itself with the general trend of diverse and rich information flow.
“It has shaped new management methods by applying modern technology to its operations, management activities, editorial work, and the publication of materials that align with technological advancements and the converging, multi-platform trends,” said Loi.
Loi added that the newspaper has established an ecosystem on social media platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to convey information about social life. The determined efforts have elevated the Economic & Urban Newspaper to the 35th position among the most accessed electronic newspapers in Vietnam, affirming the resilience and credibility of the media organ of the Hanoi People's Committee, he noted.
