VNAT and VnTrip sign deal to build database of Vietnamese tourism
The program aims to promote Vietnam tourism and attract more foreign visitors.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and VnTrip Joint Stock Company on September 12 signed an agreement on building a database of 360 degree pictures of tourism destinations.
The agreement is expected to help introduce the country's beauty and Vietnam will get a chance to connect with the Southeast Asia, global tourism systems to form a smart tourism management model.
Vietnam is an attractive destination for foreign holidaymakers. The country has received the “Asia’s Leading Destination” award from the World Travel Award, according to Vice Director of VNAT Ha Van Sieu.
Sieu stressed that the Fourth Industrial Revolution has affected all aspects of life, including tourism. This is the reason VNAT pays much attention to applying technology in tourism promotion in all markets, while backing projects and programs using high technologies.
Under the program, the VNAT and VnTrip will work together in applying 360 degree picture technology in the tourism sector and building a VnTrip application to access the 360 degree pictures, providing communications technology solutions in tourism, enhancing the efficiency of online tourism promotion and introducing digital products serving tourists.
The VnTrip 360 project aims to supply online services to tourists in a convenient manner at low prices.
Earlier, Vietnam has been listed among the world’s best adventure travel countries, according to a list released by Usnews and World Report, a US media company.
“Vietnam is densely populated and growing quickly, with about one third of the population living in bustling cities,” Usnews and World Report wrote.
Vietnam welcomed some 10.4 million foreign visitors in the first eight months of 2018, a 22.8% increase from the same last year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has announced.
In 2018, Vietnam aims to serve 16 million foreign tourists and 80 million domestic tourists, according to General Director of VNAT, Nguyen Van Tuan.
