European travel firms explore opportunities in Hanoi

The event as part of activities to welcome a delegation of travel businesses from 12 European countries those carries out a fact-finding tour of Hanoi’s tourist attractions from October 4 to 10.

A delegation of travel businesses from 12 European countries have made a fact-finding trip to Hanoi to examine opportunities to enhance linkages with Vietnam's capital city.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism in cooperation with national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 10 organized a program with the theme “Meeting with the delegation of European travel businesses to survey Hanoi tourism”. The event was part of activities during the field trip to Hanoi from October 5 to 10.

Accordingly, the delegation of travel business from 12 European countries, including France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Poland, and Turkey.
Speaking at the meeting, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Duc Hai introduced the potential and strengths of Hanoi's tourism industry to the visiting delegates.
Hanoi is the capital of more than thousand years old and considered the city of peace. It owns rich and attractive tourist resources, developed high-qualified tourism products and services; as well as is one of the two major tourist centers of Vietnam.
The number of foreign visitors to Hanoi in 2017 was estimated at 5 million, a 23% from the same last year. In the nine months of 2018, Hanoi welcomed over 4.2 million foreign holidaymakers, a 20% from the same last year. Of the total foreign visitors, 754,102 came from European tourists, a 34% from the same last year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
Earlier, Hanoi has been nominated by the World Travel Organization to run with 17 candidates for a prize of the world’s leading city destination in 2018. In addition, Hello, a UK weekly magazine has named Hanoi the number one city on its seven best destinations in Asia for backpackers.
“In order to strengthen more promotion activities, linkages and exchanges of tourists between the two markets, in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will continue to facilitate further for travel companies, media agencies and European tourists come to Hanoi,” said Tran Duc Hai.
In addition, the Hanoi Department of Tourism's leader also looked forward to further cooperation between Hanoi and other European cities, between Hanoi Tourism and Vietnam Airlines.
On this occasion, the European travel businesses mentioned, Hanoi is a new attractive and ideal destination for European travelers. The delegates also affirmed that, with the available potentials, the facilitation of various departments and state agencies on factors such as air routes, fares, and increasingly enhanced cooperation, Hanoi will certainly be the first choice of many European travelers in the coming time.
On his side, Madronal Barea Oscar, a representative from Spain, believed when being introduced the interesting attraction, European travelers will surely come to Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. He expected the cooperation between Hanoi travel businesses or other Vietnamese travel businesses and European travel businesses would bear better fruits in the future.
Earlier, the European delegation surveyed the tourist attractions and tourism products of Hanoi and surrounding areas from October 5 to 10, including the Temple of Literature, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi Old Quarters, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, etc.
