Hanoi supports to connect Francophone cities for urban heritage conservation

On February 14, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hosted reception for Mr. Pierre Baillet, AIMF Permanent Secretary (International Association of City Mayors using French).

At the meeting, Mr. Pierre expressed his pleasure at the French - Vietnamese relationship as well as the two Capitals of Paris and Hanoi that are increasingly strengthened, effectively deepened and practically cooperated. During his visit to Southeast Asia this time, the top target of AIMF Permanent Secretary (Association of Francophone Mayors) is to establish a network of Southeast Asian Nations to promote technological capability, management of large urban areas in the region, to help the municipality to increase influence in the world with the support of the European Union.

At the initiative of connecting Francophone cities for urban heritage conservation, Secretary Pierre proposed the meeting of the Executive Council of Urban Heritage in Southeast Asia in Hanoi in the near future. He hopes that city leaders will support and assist the process of events that contribute to connect the major urban networks that use French in Southeast Asia. Particular events and initiatives of Francophone cities for urban heritage conservation in general will contribute to promote the image and reputation of Hanoi Capital, is also an opportunity to strengthen relations between ASEAN cities and countries, Mr. Pierre stressed.

Thanks for suggestions and information from AIMF Permanent Secretary, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had further discussions on the content of the event. According to the city leader, Hanoi now is to encourage and strengthen cooperation in various fields with hundreds of partners that are the Capitals, regions, cities worldwide. The expansion of this partnership has brought to Hanoi several major, efficient and high-tech projects.
