Hanoi has 96 bus routes in 12 inner districts, 26 towns, administrative centers and urban areas. Firstly, Hanoi aims to build a quick, convenient, safe and friendly transport system.

According to Director of Urban Traffic Management and Control Center Nguyen Hoang Hai, the public transport system has satisfied passengers in the area. Therefore, the capital city has invested in infrastructure as well as developed the system in other cities across the country.

At present, the city records more than 1,500 buses to meet the people’s travel needs. Over the past five years, the city has built over 800 new stations (up 60%), three transshipment points (up 150%), 80 waiting rooms (up 26%) and 25 terminal revenues (up 48%).

Secondly, Hanoi is towards a synchronous and modern traffic system. Over the past time, Hanoi has been facing with a large number of private vehicles, traffic jam and accidents, environmental pollution.

To look forward to a sustainable-synchronous-modern traffic system in the coming time, the capital city will diversify forms of vehicle, such as: subways, elevated trains, BRT buses, etc. to transport passengers in the locality.

At the mean time strengthening management and control of public transport system; continuing consolidating, completing legal documents in managing infrastructure, ticket, monitoring unit price, subsidy, etc; develop electronic tickets for the public transport system to ensure the convenience for passengers; promote the ability and the management of the public transport system, contributing to building the “green- civilized-modern” Capital city.
