Hanoi needs more specific mechanism for infrastructure development

On February 17 morning, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a trip to inspect a number of key infrastructure projects in the Capital.

With rapid urbanization rate, the population size is large and constantly increasing, deals are faced with many challenges and difficulties in the planning and development of transportation infrastructure, electricity, water, environmental sanitation and so on.

During the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung directly check the status of implementation of some projects that have an important role for traffic and domestic demands. The Deputy Prime Minister also listened to the aspirations of the city's residents. One of the key transportation projects that Hanoi is required to accelerate is the Ring Road No.3 from Mai Dich overpass to Thang Long Bridge, with 5.5km long and the total investment of 3,113 billion.

Deputy Prime Minister inspected the project of site construction flyover intersections at An Duong - Thanh Nien, listened to the mind of the people here. People's desire to support the Government, slates for the project to soon tackle traffic jam, at the mean time constructing civilized and modern urban landscape for the area.

Hanoi has asked the Prime Minister to direct the ministries to allocate enough ODA counterpart; simultaneously, allowing to enjoy a special mechanism, selection of contractors, applying various forms of socialization of investment capital to accelerate the important transport projects.

Hanoi is not only facing with traffic problems but also in the fields of clean water, electricity, sanitation, that are gradually falling into overload. To address possible power, water and environmental hygiene supply, Hanoi has actively implemented breakthrough measures. However, if it is still lack of interest, facilitated by the Government, these measures will be difficult to achieve maximum efficiency.

In the environmental sector, Hanoi's solid waste is processed mostly in Soc Son and Xuan Son complex, that cannot meet internal demand. Hanoi has asked the Prime Minister to create conditions and accelerate the call for investment, construction of waste treatment in Ta Thanh Oai (Thanh Tri), Bac Son (Soc Son), Dong Ke (Chuong My).

Before the difficulties and urgency of Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said it would acquire and transfer the proposals or suggestions to the Prime Minister for continuing to consider and facilitate Hanoi. Deputy Prime Minister also asked Hanoi to better use the available resources, strengthen management in the field to ensure maximum efficiency in the immediate situation.
