Belgian Ambassador proposes cooperation with Hanoi

Hanoi will keep cooperating with the Belgian Embassy in helping the Belgian business community seek investment opportunities in the city.

Cooperation in heritage conservation and climate change adapatation are some of the collaborative areas between Hanoi and Belgium’s localities.

Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Paul Jansen proposed these cooperation fields during his meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on February 14.

Ambassador Paul Jansen mentioned three main issues of mutual concern, including the cooperation with Boydens Company in restoring the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the project on European Management University, and the ODA project on management of clean water between Belgian Hydrosan Company and Hanoi Water Supply Co.

The ambassador expressed his expectation that Hanoi’s authority will continue to facilitate and support the above-mentioned projects.

The ambassador also thanked the Hanoi People's Committee for supporting the Belgian Embassy in organizing activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral relations in 2018, including the "A Touch of Belgium" cultural event at Ly Thai To monument last May. 

Paul Jansen stressed that his country always attaches importance to Hanoi and Belgium’s localities long-term cooperative relationship and hoped that the two sides will continue to enhance the relationship.

For his part, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed that the city is always willing to support in every necessary procedures and infrastructure for the above-mentioned cooperation projects between the two sides. 

Regarding the cultural exchange cooperation in 2018, Chung praised the embassy’s activities in the city, which were appreciated by Hanoi’s residents. 

The city will support activities meant to expand cultural space by the two sides, as well as cooperate with the embassy to help Belgium’s business community seek investment opportunities in Hanoi through investment-trade promotion events.
