A day of Crown Princess of Sweden in Vietnam: When royal cares for livelihood
Crown Princess Victoria has put special care to promote the UN`s sustainable development goals by 2030 which Vietnam is striving for.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée had a busy day on Tuesday with a lot of activities during her visit to Vietnam to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations.
The Crown Princess has shown her care for different fields regardless of economics, society, and culture during the second day of her visit in Hanoi.
Economics
After having some talks with Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, the princess attended the Sweden-Vietnam Business Summit where she made a speech on the Vietnamese economy, potential for the bilateral economic ties, and sustainable growth that Sweden has made efforts to help Vietnam achieve its goals.
Society
The Crown Princess is one of 17 members of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advocacy Groupexternal link. With its task, the group aims to promote the UN’s sustainable development goals – Agenda 2030 – in various ways.
The Crown Princess mainly works with issues relating to water and health. Vietnam is one of the countries receiving her care in implementing SDGs.
Rattan and bamboo craft village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Chuong My has got great support from the UN and the Swedish government.
The funded project is expected to create jobs for women, therefore, helping promote gender equality in rural areas.
More importantly, the project advocate sustainable economic growth in Vietnam in the context of industrialization and modernization.
In the day spending times with Vietnamese people, Princess Victoria enjoyed some kinds of street food in Hanoi, tasting different kinds and saying that it’s an interesting experience that she would never forget.
Culture
The Crown Princess has given her great care to culture and respected local traditional cultural values.
She showed her admiration toward Vietnam's long-lasting tradition of studiousness which is greatly revealed through the establishment of the first university built in the 11th century.
