PM encourages German software group SAP to expand investment in Vietnam

Vietnam is promoting cooperation with Germany in various spheres, especially economic field.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked German SAP Group, one of the largest software companies in Europe, to expand its investment in Vietnam, during a reception in Hanoi on September 21 for the group's CEO Bill McDermott.

At the reception, PM Phuc wants more and more German businesses to invest more strongly in Vietnam, adding that the Vietnamese government attaches great importance to strengthening and developing relations with Germany as well as with German states. 

Stressing that Germany is Vietnam’s leading and reliable partner in Europe, the PM expected the two countries' relations to keep developing in all fields, especially in trade and investment.

For his part, Bill McDermott thanked the Vietnamese government for creating favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including SAP Group to do business in Vietnam. 

He emphasized that in the digital age, SAP Group is looking forward to cooperating and bringing a better future for Vietnam. SAP is committed to cooperating with Vietnam in the field of digital development, McDermott said.

He added that SAP is eager to participate in e-government development, innovation, small and medium enterprise development, network security, etc. SAP can reallocate resources to promote investment in Vietnam and will soon complete a specific cooperation plan.

PM Phuc emphasized that the Vietnamese government acknowledged SAP Group's positive contributions during the past 20 years to Vietnam. 

Vietnam is in the process of transforming and responding vigorously the wave of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The Vietnamese government has started to develop new strategies and policies to meet the digital shift and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In this process, Vietnam welcomes the world’s leading corporations and businesses to share experiences in related fields, Phuc stressed.

In terms of smart urban development, the PM suggested that SAP will cooperate with the Vietnam Ministries of Information and Communication, Construction, branches and localities to apply SAP's future city solutions to the process of managing and building smart cities in Vietnam.

In terms of digital transformation in the enterprises, the PM said that this process is taking place actively in enterprises. It is proposed that SAP will cooperate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to study SAP’s technology application to some Vietnamese telecommunication enterprises.

In the field of information security, PM Phuc said that the Vietnamese government is coordinating with the World Economic Forum to build an information security center for the ASEAN region located in Vietnam. Therefore, the Vietnamese government would like to invite SAP’s experts to help Vietnam in this matter.

The PM added that Vietnam is launching programs on start-ups, business development and expects to receive SAP’s consultancy in researching and making policy recommendations on creative start-ups, forming the market for start-ups, developing enterprises in the future.

PM Phuc believes that with SAP's experience and Vietnam’s determination, it is certain that the two sides will successfully cooperate.
