Vietnam PM visits Denmark, to witness signature of numerous cooperation documents
The Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will be arriving in Denmark today to start an official two-day visit to the country at the invitation of Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
This is Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s first visit to Denmark after taking office in April 2016 and part of the ongoing celebrations of the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement between Denmark and Vietnam signed in 2013.
During their bilateral meeting, the two leaders are expected to review the progress made in bilateral relations and discuss ways to further deepen the cooperation as the two countries’ relationship has developed from one mainly focusing on traditional development aid into a comprehensive partnership with strong focus on trade and investment, a stronger political dialogue and a constructive cooperation within important fields such as green growth, energy, food & agriculture, education and health.
On this occasion, the two leaders will also witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding. These include:
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate of the Kingdom of Denmark on Cooperation within the area of Low Carbon Development in the Energy Sector
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Food and Environment of the Kingdom of Denmark on the establishment of a Strategic Partnership on Food Safety and Sustainable Food Production
- A Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Health of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Denmark on the Strategic Sector Cooperation on Health
- A Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affair of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Denmark on the Strategic Sector Cooperation on Technical and Vocational Education and Training
- A Letter of Intent between the International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Department of the Veterinary and Food of Ministry of Environment and Food of the Kingdom of Denmark on continued Strategic Sector Cooperation in the area of Food Safety in the Pork Value Chain
- A Cooperation Agreement between Grundfos and Dong Nai Plastic Joint Stock Company
- A MOU between N&G Group and Vestas Asia Pacific Wind Technology Pte Ltd on Cooperation in the Development of Wind Energy Projects in Vietnam.
During his visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will also participate in the first global Summit of Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G), attend a Royal Banquet hosted by Queen Margrethe II on the occasion of the P4G Summit, have a private audience with the Queen at Amalienborg Castle, attend a lunch hosted by the Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary and participate in a roundtable meeting with Danish companies at the Confederation of Danish Industry.
P4G, hosted by Denmark on October 19-20, is a global initiative with the ambition of becoming the world’s leading forum for developing concrete public-private partnerships at scale to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.
At the P4G Summit, Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen will give welcome remarks and chair discussions on global leadership for a sustainable future with heads of state and government of P4G partner countries, CEOs, leaders of international organizations and civil society representatives.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s attendance at the first P4G Summit in Copenhagen demonstrates the strong commitment of the Government of Vietnam on delivering on the P4G targets and discussing new opportunities for green growth.
