A special stamp, celebrating the second Trump – Kim summit to be held in Hanoi, was released on February 26.
Produced by the Ministry of Information and Communications in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the stamp would be available on public posts network from February 26, 2019 to December 31, 2020.
The collector's sheet was launched on Tuesday, priced at VND4,000 (US$0.18) and measures 43mm x 32mm. It features a photo of the handshake between Chairman Kim and President Trump on the background of peaceful bamboo range – a singnature of Vietnam countryside. The stamp also has the Vietnamese flag and peace dove with the phrase "partnership for sustainable peace."
With the Khue Van pavilion being printed on, the stamp conveys the messages “Vietnam – A safe and friendly destination” and “Hanoi - A City for Peace.”
“The second DPRK-US summit takes place in Hanoi in coicidence with the 20th anniversary of Hanoi receiving the 'City for Peace' title from UNESCO. This is the chance for us to promote our image as a friendly, peaceful city with thriving potential”, said Pham Hong Hai, vice minister of Ministry of Information and Communications.
Vina Post has set up a stall to serve post and stamp collection demands at the Culture Friendship Palace for the more than 3,000 journalists working at the site during the summit.
