Vietnam has been steadfast in its policy for global integration and has achieved significant results over the past five years, Phuc said at a conference discussing Vietnam’s policies for global integration on April 23.

Firstly, the country could take advantage of the favorable external environment for economic development, while promoting its image and culture.

Secondly, through the integration process, Vietnam is resolved to defend its national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the benefits of the people and enterprises.

Vietnam would not shy away from differences but stay active in initiating dialogues and protecting its core interests, Phuc stated.

Thirdly, global integration has become an important drive for socio-economic development, helping the country enhance the credibility and status on the global stage.

As of present, a total of 71 countries and territories have recognized Vietnam's market economy status. Vietnam also participates in 11 free trade agreements (FTAs) and is promoting the signing of the EU-Vietnam FTA (EVFTA) and negotiating others four agreements.

These are the foundation for Vietnam’s goods and services to access 59 markets and create favorable conditions to attract foreign capital inflows, Phuc added.

Fourthly, Vietnam has taken its global integration process to a new level. From being a responsible member of the world community, the country has actively involved and contributed to the formation of multilateral frameworks.

According to the prime minister, Vietnam’s internal strengths have been enhanced throughout the process, in turn contributing to the success of global integration.

In the time ahead, Phuc expected Vietnam to play a more active role in global integration, while taking into account the country’s own benefits and capabilities.

For economic integration, Phuc stated the country must not stand still to see opportunity pass by. However, internal strengths must be at the center of the process and integration in others fields must support economic integration.

Phuc noted the necessity to enhance capabilities in settling international disputes, protecting rights of the country, its people and enterprises.

Another important aspect of global integration is education, for which Phuc requested the sector must enhance its standards to develop high-quality human resources for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Phuc stressed the government would do its utmost to support enterprises in global integration. Each province and enterprise must be the beneficiary of the process itself, he stressed.
