Over 100 agricultural stalls at OCOP fair

The fair runs from February 22 to 25 at Va Temple, Trung Hung Ward, Son Tay Town, Hanoi.

A fair to promote One Commune One Product (OCOP) farm commodities linked to local tourism is running until February 25, attracting more than 100 booths of 70 businesses from Hanoi, Son Tay Town, and 20 other localities.

Exhibitors at the fair showcased regional specialties such as Dien Bien rice, Muong Khuong [northern province of Lao Cai] chili sauce, Binh Lu village [northern province of Lai Chau] vermicelli, Lai Chau ginseng tea, central Quang Nam province agarwood, and green lim mushroom.

At the opening ceremony of the fair on February 22, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) Bui Duy Quang said that Son Tay, with its numerous historical relics and rich cultural heritage, has great potential for tourism development combined with the preservation and value enhancement of traditional craft villages.

He added that HPA has recently collaborated with the Son Tay Town People's Committee to organize trade promotion programs that integrate the promotion of village handicraft products and local tourism, such as the "Happy Tet 2022" program with the theme "Tet in Doai Land" and the "Vietnamese Village Tet 2023" program.

These practical programs have attracted the attention of consumers and tourists, bringing positive results in promoting cooperation, investment, trade, and tourism between the capital city and other localities nationwide, he said.

The HPA has collaborated with Son Tay Town to sell traditional sweets from Duong Lam Ancient Village, Phu Nhi rice flour cakes, safe vegetables from Vien Son Vegetable Farm, and handmade lace embroidery products to visitors at the Va Temple Festival.

Currently, the town has 78 products evaluated and classified under the OCOP program with three and four-star ratings. These, together with Son Tay's historical sites such as Son Tay Ancient Citadel, Mia Pagoda, Va Temple, and Duong Lam Ancient Village, have made Son Tay an emerging tourist destination.
