Since January 1, the municipal Department of Taxation started issuing e-invoices for all business entities, with the target that 100% of them implement e-invoicing by June 30, 2022.

According to the Department, the implementation of e-invoices among individuals and household businesses is facing mounting difficulties due to the serious Covid-19 pandemic that has been disrupting economic activities.

In this context, taxation authorities have been instructed to lend hands-on support to businesses and address their concern throughout the process.

Meanwhile, the rate of online tax declaration and payments in Hanoi has reached over 98%, and that of online tax refund has been 100% for export services and investment projects.

Over 13,200 household businesses paid taxes online with around VND346 billion (US$15.1 million) after nearly two months of the implementation.

Hanoi is among six provinces/cities, along with Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong, Quang Ninh, Binh Dinh, and Phu Tho piloting e-invoices. Once the testing phase is completed, the use of e-invoices would be expanded to the remaining 57 localities from April 2022.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh stressed the use of e-invoices is a key step towards the modernization of tax management, that would directly impact the business environment and national competitiveness.

Anh said the local authorities are committed to creating the utmost convenience for businesses and taxpayers to switch to e-invoicing.
