The Da Nang People’s Committee has agreed to set up Son Tra night market near the Dragon bridge, An Hai Tay ward, Son Tra district., VOV reported.
Costing an estimated VND4.2 billion (US$180,600), the project will feature a commercial space and walking streets, aiming to add greater character to Da Nang city. Son Tra night market will have 150 pavilions selling food and specialties, souvenirs, handicraft products, jewelry, fashion and bags, which will be open from 6:00 pm to midnight.
The project will create a new destination for tourism and shopping, helping to lure visitors and extend their stay in the city while meeting their demands for entertainment, shopping and cuisine.
Visitors to Da Nang city will be provided with an additional tourism product and have a chance to experience the local culture at night. Local products such as seafood will be given pride of place at the market, according to Vice Director of the Da Nang Tourism Department Tran Tri Cuong.
Earlier, Da Nang People’s Committee has approved the project of An Thuong Tourist Zone located on the coast of My An ward, turning it into a 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
The project’s objectives include creating a 24-hours a day, seven days a week entertainment and shopping destinations and offering distinct products that meet tourism demands.
The Da Nang People’s Committee has promulgated a decision to commence tourism development projects in 2018 with a total cost of VND14.4 billion (US$633,600). With this budget, Da Nang expects to focus on tourism development services like eco- and rural tourism and to strengthen the management of accommodation and travel. Da Nang also wants to increase tourism promotion via mass media.
The total number of visitors to Da Nang in 2017 was estimated at 6.6 million, an increase of 19% compared to 2016. The total social income from tourism is estimated at VND19.4 trillion (US$853 million), an increase of 20.6%, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
