Flight ticket sales from the July to August period showed Da Nang as the top foreign travel location, up three places from last year. Travel in the city is relatively cheap, about US$90 per day, and is a manageable distance from South Korea, about and a half hour by flight, Yonhap reported.
Accordingly, TMON sales data show a growing preference for places that offer hotel, resort, shopping and tourism activities altogether. Japanese destinations fell from last year’s rankings. Osaka, Fukuoka and Tokyo, the previous top three, fell to the second, third and sixth places, respectively.
Earlier, Da Nang city has been ranked 20th among 23 underrated travel destinations to visit before everyone else does, according to a list released by Vogue Australia, a fashion and lifestyle magazine.
Erik Du, an Instagram user who loves travelling, has some words of advice for travelers that the colorful lanterns of Hoi An ancient town near Da Nang city are a joy to see they take all your worries away. You can leave the tourist hotspots behind and dip you toes in Hoi An and Da Nang.
Da Nang city welcomed more than 3.2 million visitors in the first five months of 2018, a year-on-year rise of 30.4%, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
The number of foreign visitors arriving in the city in the first five months of 2018 was estimated at 1.3 million. The total income from tourism was estimated at more than VND11.1 trillion (US$488 million), up 53.6% against the same period of last year.
