Hanoi to hold exclusive cultural event at walking street next weekend
Hanoians will have a chance to enjoy the unique performances from the parade groups comprise of thousands of artisans, folk performing artists, elderly people and students of the city.
A street carnival with the theme “The Quintessence of Hanoi - Confluence and Shine” is scheduled to be held in the morning on July 29 with the expected participation of thousand of people parading around Hoan Kiem Lake in the center of Hanoi.
The event is organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Center for Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage Arts on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Hanoi's expansion of its administrative boundary (2008 – 2018).
Accordingly, more than 5,000 people are expected to join the street carnival in Hanoi and will be parading around Hoan Kiem Lake, Ly Thai To Square, Ba Kieu Temple, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, in front of Luc Thuy restaurant, Ba Trieu - Hang Khay intersection, and Hang Bai - Trang Tien intersection.
In 2017, the first carnival from 86 international artists of Sun World Ba Na Hills arts troupe opened in Hanoi walking street from September 16 to 17. They presented an unprecedented, unique, street carnival in the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake, in Hanoi.
During the two days of the carnival, artists performed from 10 am to 12 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm per day. Four drum artists, 18 skilled instrumentalists, dancers and beautiful European models were attracted audiences and visitors to join in with the passionate street dances and music.
During the breaks, Hanoi audiences were able to enjoy performances of fire dancing, jolting, juggling, and acrobatics. Children had a chance to meet the beautiful princesses and handsome princes like in the fairy tales.
In addition, the swordplay artists reproduced the spectacular swordplay scenes from the famous movie entitled ‘Three Musketeers’. The international arts carnival were the largest-scale street art event, with the participation of the most international artists ever to be held in Hanoi.
