The 2019 Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival aims to promote the geographical indication of Buon Ma Thuot coffee and raise the value of this Vietnamese produce.
Dak Lak province People’s Committee has just approved a plan to organize the 2019 Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, due to take place from March 9 to 16.
The festival will be themed “Tinh hoa dai ngan” (Quintessence of the Forest) and is expected to improve the value of Buon Ma Thuot’s coffee in particular and Vietnamese coffee in general. In addition, the festival will honor domestic coffee growers and traders while encouraging the community to join hands to create and develop coffee culture, particularly in Dak Lak and also in Vietnam in general.
The 2019 Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will introduce the potential and strength of Dak Lak province, promote investment in coffee processing as well as other farm produce in the area.
The festival is among many activities in commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory (March 10, 1975 – March 10, 2019).
According to Vice Chairman of Dak Lak province's People Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh, next year’s festival will focus on promoting Vietnamese coffee and gradually turning Buon Ma Thuot city into a destination for coffee aficionados worldwide.
The festival will feature a diverse range of activities including a coffee exhibition, a coffee promotion seminar, a street festival, free coffee tasting sessions, Buon Don elephant race, and an international paragliding contest.
In 2017, the 6th Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival opened in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak. 800 artisans, performers, and farmers participated in the festival, which featured carnivals, elephant and boat races, and farming competitions.
