The Vietnam Festival 2019 is scheduled to take place at Yoyogi park in Tokyo, Japan from June 8 to 9, Vietnam News Agency reported, citing Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam at a press conference in Tokyo on May 13.
According to the ambassador, this cultural event is highly anticipated by Japanese friends and Vietnamese expatriates in Japan.
”The annual festivals have helped strengthen friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan over the years, as well as mutual understanding between their peoples,” Nam said, expressing his belief that the event will leave unforgettable memories and a better understanding about Vietnam’s landscape, culture, and people on visitors.
On his side, Member of Japan’s House of Representatives and Secretary General of the Organizing Board Aoyagi Yoichiro also highlighted the significance of the festival in increasing people-to-people exchanges. The festival has been a success over the years and highly appreciated by the Vietnamese government, said Aoyagi Yoichiro.
According to the organizing board, the festival will feature 120 pavilions divided into thematic sections such as “Traditional food”, “Music”, and “Traditional art”. Through the festival, visitors will have a chance to enjoy the cuisine exchange, cultural, music activities.
The festival, which is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on June 8 and 9, is expected to welcome about 180,000 people.
In 2008, the Vietnam Festival in Japan was held for the first time. The event was part of the activities to celebrate the 35th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
