Hanoi will launch open-top double-decker bus tour service later this May.
This was announced by Hanoi Department of Transport’s representative. Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Transport has issued a decision to approve the open-top double-decker bus tour route.
The route will have 13 stops, including one located near Hoan Kiem Lake to provide tourism information for visitors. Initially, three buses will be used for the route. There will be different kinds of tickets for customers to choose such as tickets for one day for two days.
Information about Hanoi’s landscapes and historical sites to serve travellers have been submitted to Hanoi authorities for consideration. Earlier, Hanoi People’s Committee has asked municipal management agencies to trim trees and adjust electric wires for the operation of the tour service.
In 2017, Hanoi piloted this bus tour service in the city-centre area. However, one month later, the Ministry of Transport asked Hanoi and localities nationwide to halt this to wait for the government’s instruction.
Hanoi welcomed 23.83 million visitors in 2017, up 9% against the previous year. In which, foreign visitors totaled 4.95 million, up 23% against the previous year. The city earned total tourism revenues of almost VND71 trillion (US$3 billion), up 15% compared to 2016, according to Hanoi Department of Tourism.
In addition, Hanoi is ranked by several world's leading travel magazines among 20 tourist destinations, the top ten fast-growing tourism cities and one of the most attractive destinations in the world.
Hanoi is striving to welcome 5.5 million foreigners among over 25.4 million tourists in 2018, confirming itself as an attractive destination in the region and the world. Hanoi will focus on developing high-quality products at favourite destinations such as the world heritage site of Thang Long imperial citadel, Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace, to reach the goal.
