150 delegates from 26 Japanese travel companies and 100 Vietnamese ones across the country attended the tourism promotion meeting.
A meeting of representatives from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Japanese travel companies was held in Hanoi on June 19.
The event was among the activities to effectively implement Resolution 06 of the municipal party committee on tourism development in the 2016 - 2020 period and ensuing years.
Speaking at the meeting, General Director of Chubu Tourism Company Suzuki Keisuke said through the field trip to Hanoi, Japanese travel agencies expect the municipal Department of Tourism and Vietnamese tour operators would exchange information and enhance connection with them in the field to create suitable tour packages and attract more Japanese visitors.
The reception of Japanese tourism agencies is one of the activities to promote Hanoi’s tourism in the Japanese market - one of the three leading tourists sources of Hanoi, towards building appropriate tourism products for Japanese travellers.
In recent years, Hanoi Department of Tourism has held several activities for Vietnamese and Japanese travel firms to meet and exchange the opportunities to cooperate, Hai added.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Duc Hai said the agency will continue to provide best support for Japanese travel companies and visitors, expressing his hope that Japanese firms will bring more tourists to Hanoi in the coming time.
Earlier, the guests also visited Sofitel Legend Metropole, Thang Long Water Puppet Theater, Hoan Kiem pedestrian zone, Van Phuc silk village, Duong Lam ancient village, Mia pagoda, Tay Phuong pagoda, Thang Long imperial citadel, the Temple of Literature, among other tourism facilities of Hanoi.
Japan remained among the top three sources of tourists to Hanoi with more than 290,000 arrivals in 2017, up 22% from the previous year.
