The win by a six-goal margin assures Vietnam the first spot in Group B at the AFF Cup 2022.
Vietnam national football team defeated Laos by a six goal margin at their first match in the AFF Cup 2022 on December 21.

With the strongest line-u, Vietnamese players soon controlled the match. Striker Nguyen Tien Linh scored the opening goal in 16th minute after receiving a nice cross from left wingback Doan Van Hau.
Central midfielder Do Hung Dung doubled the lead for Vietnam in the 43rd minute as he seized the opportunity from a poor clearance of Laos’ defenders.
In the second half, Vietnam continued to dominate the game.
The third goal for Vietnam was scored in the 56th minute as right wingback Ho Tan Tai capped a nice move and put the ball into the net.
Left wingback Doan Van Hau put his name on the scoresheet one minute later as he scored with a trivela.
After having lead by four goals, Vietnam made some substitutions to keep key players in good conditions. Striker Nguyen Van Toan and substitute left wingback Vu Van Thanh scored the fifth and sixth goals in the 83rd and 91st minutes.
Elsewhere, Malaysia beat Myanmar by only one goal.
After the first round, Vietnam tops Group B in the AFF Cup 2022, Malaysia is second.
Vietnam will receive Malaysia on their home field My Dinh on December 27.
